2. Which sides to engrave
A pocket compass has three surfaces: the outside lid (up to 140 characters — his name, initials, a design or coordinates), the inside lid (up to 140 characters — your personal message) and the back (up to 50 characters — a date or the occasion). Prices start at $58 with one engraved side. If you pick only one, make it the inside lid: he sees it every time he opens the compass.
Tip: If your message is longer, split it: short title on the lid + full note inside the cover.
3. Leather pouch
The optional genuine leather pouch protects the brass and makes the gift feel finished. It can be engraved too — up to 20 characters, usually his initials or a short name — with no extra charge for the engraving.
