How to Personalize

1. Choose your sides. The celestial design always goes on the front. Pick "only front side" for the design alone, "front and inside" to add your message inside the lid, or "all 3 sides" to add a message on the back too.
2. Add your message. Type your text and pick a font for the inside lid and back, or upload a photo of your handwriting (see Handwriting Engraving below).
3. We engrave and ship. Your compass is engraved in our workshop and shipped within 1 business day.

Message Ideas for the Inside Lid

• "Under the same stars, always."
• "The mountains are calling and I must go." (John Muir)
• "Wherever the trail leads, come home to me."
• Your names and the date you met, or the coordinates of your favorite summit

Handwriting Engraving

Want your note in your own handwriting? We engrave it exactly as you write it, inside the lid or on the back.

1. Write your message on blank (unlined) paper with a pen.
2. Take a clear, well-lit photo of it.
3. Upload the photo in the image field for the side you want engraved.

From your handwritten note to the engraved compass.

How the Compass Works

This is a mechanical magnetic compass. Release the side lock and the red needle points North. Line it up with the N on the dial to find East, South and West. Lock the needle when not in use to protect it.
